Dr Leon V Zimmet MBBS FRACP FCSANZ
Dr Leon Zimmet is a highly experienced cardiologist with special interests in non-invasive cardiology, lipids and risk factor management. Dr Zimmet has been with SA Heart since its inception in 1984.
Dr Zimmet graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1967. He completed his MBBS in Adelaide in 1967 before undergoing advanced training in cardiology at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He then went on to complete post graduate training at the University of Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1973.
Dr Zimmet was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) 1976 and Fellowship to the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ) in 2004.
In the past Dr Zimmet has held the position of President of The Flinders Medical Centre Research Foundation, having been the first visiting cardiologist to the Flinders Medical Centre from 1974, a position he held for 25 years. He was the President of the Cardiac Society of SA from 1984 -1986.
